- WASHINGTON, Dec. 7, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for ready-to-eat (RTE) product labeled as birria-inspired beef soup due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The product labeled as birria-inspired beef soup may actually contain plant-based chicken noodle soup, which contains sesame, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. FSIS is issuing this public health alert to ensure that consumers are aware that these products should not be consumed. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase. The product subject to the public health alert bears the establishment number “EST. 18235” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
